This notice explains what personal data we handle, why, and the choices you have. It is written to be read, not to protect us.

Who is responsible

What we collect, and why

1. If you contact us. The contact form collects your name, your email address, a topic and your message. We use this only to read and answer you, and to keep a record of the exchange. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and where relevant your consent or a contract. Messages are stored on servers in the European Union and are not shared with anyone outside the organisation.

2. If you allow analytics. We would like to use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pieces are read. It sets cookies and sends data to Google. It does not run unless you accept it. The lawful basis is your consent, and you can withdraw it at any time.

3. Server logs. Our web server records standard technical information — IP address, requested page, time, browser type — to keep the site working and to defend it against abuse. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in operating a secure service. These logs are rotated and not used to build profiles.

We do not run advertising, we do not sell personal data, and we do not share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies and your choice

This site sets no cookies at all unless you accept analytics. There are no advertising cookies, no social-media cookies and no cross-site trackers.

If you accept, Google Analytics sets _ga and _ga_<id> cookies to distinguish visits, and Google receives your IP address and information about your visit. If you decline, or take no action, nothing is set and no analytics script is loaded — the page simply loads without them. Declining changes nothing about what you can read here.

You can change your mind at any time using the cookie settings link in the footer. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser, and use Google's opt-out add-on.

How long we keep things

Contact messages: kept while the enquiry is live and then archived for up to 24 months so we can follow a thread. Server logs: rotated within 30 days. Analytics: per Google's retention settings for this property.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive it in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw that consent at any time. To exercise any of these, email contact@macrotape.io and we will respond within one month. If you think we have handled your data badly, you may complain to your national supervisory authority — in Belgium, the Autorité de protection des données.

Where your data goes

The site and its data are hosted in the European Union. The only processing outside the EU is Google Analytics, and only if you consent to it. If you decline, your visit involves no transfer to any third country: our fonts are served from our own servers, so loading a page contacts no outside party at all.

If we change how we handle personal data, we will update this page and its date.
